A Homily on Love

A Homily on Love

Not so long ago when I didn’t understand even the first letter of word “Love” – I would be in awe thinking about it. I was baffled when I saw young chaps stuck to their computer screens connected to the internet messengers only to speak to their “sweethearts”, or just talking on the phone seamlessly, without any sense of time, only to see their parents yelling at them, later. I couldn’t imagine as to what, and why, were they doing this? I found it to be silly. U. Mahesh Prabhu writes more.

Breaking Records

Breaking Records

Records are meant to be broken, and this is not just restricted to the sports field. Recently, I got a chance to challenge an auto driver to break his record of charging a passenger the cheapest price, in other words, the lowest profit he had made in a trip from a passanger. So, let us believe that English is the language of modern knowledge and English culture the language of modernity. Wonderful, Wonderful Teachers

Wonderful, Wonderful Teachers

I don’t have one memorable teacher from my school days. I have two. Mrs. Margaret Farrar was my English literature teacher during my sophomore and junior years in high school. Mrs. Farrar had three claims to fame: First, she was the only teacher in the school who addressed her students by Miss or Mr. and their last name (I was Miss Baron); second, she taught Dave Garraway, the original host of the NBC “Today” show; and three, she looked like a bull dog. We, the People

On Wednesday, while waiting for a bus to return home, I was surprised when a girl came to me and asked me, “Can I make a call from your mobile?
