Afghan kids die after acid attack
A boy and girl have been killed in Afghanistan due to the nature of their friendship.
The 12 and 15 year old children were sprayed during the week in a spiteful acid attack.
Their bodies were only discovered in bush land after calls to police from witnesses.
The incident occurred in Esfandi, in south central Afghanistan’s Ghazni province, an ultra-conservative area.
Police said the two, who had been close friends, were found with their bodies and faces burnt by acid.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks and the bodies have still not been collected from the local morgue.
In some tribal areas, Afghanistan has become notorious for its attitudes toward male-female relationships.
There have been incidents in the past when teenage children, mainly females, have been sprayed with acid for rejecting marriage proposals or being seen with unrelated men.
