‘I am not on Facebook’

What is Kitchen Champion all about?

As the name suggests, it is a kitchen reality show where the actresses of various Colors’ shows will be showing their cooking skills. The chef will be give us marks on the basis of the dishes we prepare.

What prompted you to take up the show?

I took it up because it is different from what I have done before. Moreover, it was a really nice concept.

Being the youngest competitor on the show, did you get any special favour from anyone?

Ronit bhaiya was really helpful on the show. I was competing against Punpunwali in the first episode. She had won extra time on the show in her first round, something that put me at a disadvantage. However, Ronit bhaiya gave me an idea and asked me to speak to the chef to allow me to start cooking without delay. I talked to the chef and got what I wanted. Even though Punpunwali kept saying that it was not fair, he kept supporting me.

How was it interacting with Ronit Roy?

Ronit bhaiya was very nice to me throughout the shoot. Before the commencement of the shoot, we both prepared chilli paneer. We had a really good time on the sets. We have become really good friends.

Do you remember any incidents which have occurred with you after you started playing Anandi?

One incident is clearly etched in my mind. After the school assembly, when I was going for my class, Students of Class II and III surrounded me and said, ‘Oh! You are Anandi from Balika Vadhu. We need your autograph.’ My teachers also refer to me with all kinds of names like Bindni, Laado, etc.

In the show, your character has grown with the passage of time. What are the changes you observe in yourself?

Quite a few. I have seen some changes in myself. I have grown taller. I have also become smarter and intelligent. Apart from this Avika is similar to Anandi in every other possible way. However, one trait separates the two. Anandi ka byaah hua hai, aur avika ka nahi hua hai.

Do you like social networking sites and gizmos?

I am not much into gizmos. However, I have a blog avikasgor.in. I write about my various shows on the blog. When I participated on Bingo, I wrote about my experiences on the show. Since I am participating on Kitchen Champion, my viewers will be able to read my thoughts and views on the show. A lot of my fans comment on my blog and it really gives me immense pleasure to read their remarks. However, I would like to clarify that I am not on Facebook. There is a fake profile of me on the site.

How do you spend your leisure time?

I love to dance and read comic books. Archies is my favourite comic book.

How do you manage to strike a balance between your studies and work?

I have my school from 9 am to 3 pm. Then I go for my shooting. In between my shots I do my homework.

Don’t you feel that you are losing your childhood due to Balika Vadhu?

No, not at all. In fact, all the adulation has helped me make new friends.

In many of your interviews you have said that you want to become Miss Universe. Any particular reasons for the same?

Modelling is my passion. I dream that I have become the most beautiful girl on this planet.

You have worked with a lot of big names like Anupam Kher, Shahid Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan. How has the experience been with them?

It was awesome. I had always harboured the dream to dance with Shahid bhaiya and it came true during the shot of Paathshaala. I told him about the same. Anupam uncle is a really versatile actor. He taught me the art of voice modulation. I really had a blast with Abhishek Bachchan. I gifted him a photo frame which had a family photograph of Amit uncle, Jaya aunty and Aishwarya didi. When I went to play on Bingo, I gifted Abhishek Bachchan a tie. He also gave me a lot of gifts and chocolates.
