Time Matters
At present you are not a human being sitting in front of me but just ‘time.’ It’s your time that has brought you here. At 7.31 pm, your point of contact with me is your link with time, so you are representing that particular time. And now that I have associated you with time, I will scan your biological system and see what problems you are facing, Give me five minutes for the analysis.”
For a moment, I am left speechless as I feel I have ceased to exist. Sitting in a small cabin that is lit up with dim red lights, has bead curtains hanging from one side and a huge red coloured Om sign adorning the facing wall, I never had expected that a simple shopping trip will put a question mark on my existence.
I had stepped into DLF Emporio earlier in the afternoon to do some shopping for the New Year shopping. And while moving around, I had noticed a huge outlet of Amatrra spa. A wellness journey has been organised by Asia spa magazine, where top spas of Delhi have been brought together. Thinking of relaxing my frayed nerves, I had walked in. But little did I realise that it would be just a spa experience. It was going to be a complete wellness experience.
The small dimly lit cabin was the first step. It is domain of astro-physician Pawanji, who dressed in a golden and white Jaipuri suit, has just now made me ‘cease to exist as a physical self.’ Pawanji had claimed that by just knowing my name and time on which I came in contact with him, he will be able to tell me my problem areas.
Now in a thoughtful pose, he is looking into his the computer screen on his table scanning an element analysis medical chart. The same chart also appears on the computer screen facing me. I try to make sense out of the complex chart on the screen but fail. So I wait for Pawanji to say something.
He sighs, “After going through your chart, I observed that there are no major diseases in your system. There are however minor complexities like iron and calcium deficiency, hair fall, and you are prone to hormonal disturbances. Also, your left leg pains and it has doing so for a week now.”
I was taken aback. His analysis was absolutely right. I have been actually facing all these problems. “Don’t worry, the problems are due to lifestyle disorders and getting back into healthy lifestyle would make you fit. As your immunity level is also going low, you need to increase the blood flow in your body, and for that spa treatment is advisable. It will cleanse your system and removes all the toxins. You need to drink lots of water to get rid of your leg pain,” explains he.
As I start jotting down the remedies, an unfamiliar voice greets me. “Hi, I am Dr Jairam Nair, an ayurveda expert. I will judge your body constitution by checking your pulse,” says he. That sounds interesting, I tell myself. Nair checks my pulse for a few minutes, and says, “You are prone to hormonal disturbances which may lead to thyroid and pain in lower back in later years of your life. Your digestive system is quite sensitive. Therefore, I suggest you drink lot of water and lessen the salt intake.”
I am amazed. Just by noting my time of entry and checking the pulse, these gentlemen had diagnosed the state of my health quite accurately. I thank them and head for the spa to heed to their advice.
I meet Vandna Uberoi of Amatrra Spa who informs me how this unique ‘wellness’ therapy works.
“We combine Astro-science and Ayurveda into ‘Astroveda’ and taking it to the next level, we customise spa regimen by identifying the most beneficial therapies, oils, mantras, and dietary prescriptions and prescribing aromas, colours and precious therapeutic gems for each individual based on their planetary diagnosis,” says Uberoi, as she escorts me to another small cabin, where she introduces me to Rupal Tyagi, aroma therapist.
Tyagi tells me about therapeutic oils which maintain hormonal balances in the body. “Every therapeutic oil is anti-ageing. When these oils are repeatedly used on your body, it gets rejuvenated as dead skin is removed, making you look younger,” says she and escorts me to the spa cabin.
There I am greeted by three pretty girls, who tell me that they would give me foot reflexology, face, head and shoulder massage. They make me smell different oils and ask me choose one for the massage. I prefer the one with floral fragrance. As I lie down on the high rise bed in the dark room, I am a bit apprehensive. But once Sangtei caresses my face, Caroline puts pressure on my shoulder points and Elizabeth starts massaging my feet, I feel I am in safe hands. The feeling of relaxation slowly seeps in.
I ask the girls benefits of these oils. “Lavender gives a calming and rejuvenating effect, rose enhances the skin complexion and germanium balances the skin tone, neutralising the dry skin,” says Sangtei.
There is a gentle nudge on my shoulder. I open my eyes and suddenly realise that the soothing massage had actually helped me go to sleep. The girls around me smile. I thank them and move out. Some eventful shopping spree it was, I utter to myself as I head home.
